Jantan Watch

Bell & Ross BRO1-92 Automatic, Pink Gold

This is a Man's watch. Yeah, that's right, none of those slim little dinky straps with a watch face so small you can't see the time. This is a watch that you can tell time AND kill a buffalo with (if you fling it hard enough : ). The price might range from RM35,000 to RM50,000 depending on which internet site you buy it from. Malaysia has a few I think but am checking if they have stock. Most of the serious collectors are scouring the world vie the net to get the best buy. But word of caution to you time wasters out there, don't ask unnecessary questions if you're not a serious buyer - you'll get royally fucked or just won't get a reply.

BUT if you're like the rest of us broke blokes, mosey on down to Petaling Street where you will be able to get a really good copy at about RM200-RM250. And the best part is since bell and ross is a serious watch brand and does not appeal to the 'Lolex' crowd no one will be able to tell its a fake.

Dein kicked out of Arsenal

More boardroom shenanigans as David Dein is ousted from Arsenal. Go here for more. The root cause being his support for American investors Kroenke take over the club ala Liverpool and Man Utd. The other board members in a surprising move to keep the club in traditional English hands. Good or bad? - maintain your identity or loose your soul to money. I hope Wenger stays and continues his development plans with those great kids at the club.

Maria Maria!

Here be pictures of a tennis goddess as never seen before! Maria Sharapova, Nike babe, Tag honey and now swim suit model. Sports has never looked this good! Enjoy these pictures from Sports Illustrated.

Nice Pic of Maria and Chris Evert.

Transformers Preview

Prime Concept Art

Prime Toy

Michael Bay's a wanker - flashy movies with no soul. Look at Pearl Harbour and The Island. That's why Transformers the Movie will be the perfect 'vehicle' for the dude to finally get the formula right with his star cast of a Mack Truck, a couple of cars and some alien jets. Here are some concept designs for our old friends the Autobots and the Decepticons. Re-designed for the new millennium, they have taken on an organic/mechanical feel. The designs look messy, not the clean lines of the retro cartoons but then lets see how they turn out. The Optimus Prime toy is not a good sign as it looks way too clumsy so I'm hoping it's Hasbro doing a fucked up job as usual translating a screen figure to plastic. The concept art actually makes him/it look leaner. And check out Megatron and his new monster Dracula look...

The movie drops on the 4th of July 2007.

Nike Considered

So you're paying big bucks (at least RM400 and above) for an enviromentally friendly shoe that indirectly cuts down on toxic exposure to the workers in the factory, uses less parts to save on labour and materials and even sources raw materials from vendors that are close to the factory to cut down fuel emmissions. The Nike Considered range is supposed to signify the footwear giant's commitment to saving the environment and also a more humane way to make a shoe. Well for now it's just another marketing gimmick just like the re-use a shoe where certain parts of the shoe were ground into bits and reused as part of the outsole. Commendable but it was an expensive process and the soles were actually more slippery when wet compared to the normal outer soles.

Anyway I got a Nike Considered Mowabb - I was an ACG freak back in the day so could not resist it. The design just got me all teary eyed for the days of yore. The bottom line, is it worth the price? For one you're going to find yourself wearing the softest pair of shoes around. It must be the phylon midsole of whatever they used but it's the next best thing to walking on a water bed. And that's where the slight problem lies - because its so soft it's not really feasible if you're doing some serious walking as you find that pushing off is harder because of the soft ride. It's like trying to speed on slightly deflated tyres. But other than that its great. I haven't' had the heart to trash it yet as the Considered range is more a fashion statement than a performance shoe but so far I have got caught in the rain quite a few times and the shoe hasn't shown much drama yet unlike the regular ACG that I had that started started yawning at the toe cap after 2-3 trips across streams at Janda Baik. Now I aim to see if the perennial Nike problem of the glue giving out on the out sole afflicts the Considered range. So far so good, its been about 5 months and it's still good with regular wear. The Considered range may not be the sort of shoe that Sneaker heads might take to heart and it's still a bit too pricey especially with designs more suited for the ACG crowd. The best bet so far is check out the regular shops as some of the Considered range is on discount so that would be your best best to get a good buy. So far spotted on sale would be at the Nike outlet at the Curve (opp. Starbucks) and Sunway Pyramid. Please feel free to add on places that you know are putting the Considered on sale.
